Replacing a radiator with a blown head gasket. Help pls.

Post by CaptainJamesTKirk » Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:12 pm

I plan on replacing a radiator on a honda accord. I had a warranty on the radiator and the thing overheated so the I brought it in to replace it for free but the mechanic I went to says that I also need a new head gasket before he can replace the radiator. Is he being cheap and just doesn't want to replace my radiator for free and wants to make some cash? I know that a blown head gasket can cause a car to over heat but every where I look it says that it takes a long time to do that. Can I just use head gasket sealer in the replaced radiator after I fix it to fix the gasket and kill two birds with one stone? If anyone could help this would be awesome cause at the moment I'm up crap creek with out a paddle and have a hole in my boat and dont have 1500 to pay for a new head gasket. I know how to replace a radiator its the rest I'm worried about.

Have you've gone to another mechanic for a second opinion? The
mechanic industry can be a little tricky due to fraudulent
diagnosis. Unless you trust the guy and feel comfortable with the
services at that place.

Sounds good - wouldn't want you to be robbed for your hard, earned galatic money!

Yes I did now I'm just having problems getting the POC to start. I think it might be the alarm cause I got a new battery and a new starter and the thing still refuses to turn over.
